Is it possible to get a false negative pregnancy test result if you are only one 2 days late? When should I retake the test. I was supposed to start my mens yesterday, and yes I my husband and I are trying, but it hasn't come yet. This past week I have been have pms/ pregnancy symptoms. Such as, nausea, gas, tiredness, so on and so forth. We are taking clomid and metformin. I have been charting and all that good stuff. What do you think. Does anyone have any idea of what I am going through. How long should I wait before I see my OBGYN?

Bethany replied: "I would wait at least 2 weeks. But that is just personal opinion."

iM JUST ME replied: "I would take it in about a week. Some women have false negatives till they're 3 months pregnant! So just give it some time or the best thing you can do is go get a blood test. Good luck =)"

mdizzy18 replied: "I got a bfp 3 days after my missed period. And I would have gotten one sooner because it came up two lines right away. And they were very dark."

Julian'sMommy replied: "Can I still be pregnant if the test is negative (have a "false negative")? In a word, yes. You could be testing too early (before your baby is making enough pregnancy hormone to be detected by the test.) And some women (this is fairly rare, but possible) never get a positive urine test even when they're definitely pregnant (for some reason the hormone doesn't make it into their urine.) I have a friend who didn't get a positive HPT until 25 DPO! (With her second baby, a test at 23 DPO was negative . . . but a test on 30 DPO was positive. Oddly enough, with #3, her positive test came at only 12 DPO.) If you get a negative test but think you might be preggo anyway, wait a couple of days (giving the hCG hormone time to build up) and try again. It's not over until the fat lady sings-- and your period crashes the party. If you are not monitoring your fertility in any way (OPK's, charting cervical mucus or basal temperature, ultrasounds) it becomes extra-tricky. There are two parts to every menstrual cycle: from the start of your period to ovulation, which can vary quite a bit in length, and from ovulation to your next period, which is usually consistent in length. (This second half is known as the "luteal phase," and the normal range is 10-16 days. It's normal for your typical luteal phase to vary by a day or two. For example, mine is normally 11 days, but 10 and 12 are not unheard of either. I have also had a couple of longer ones by total fluke.) Because ovulation can happen at any time, it's possible your egg was delayed for some reason (stress, illness, travel, excitement.) This doesn't mean your period is actually "late" (it could arrive within the normal 10-16 days after ovulation), but rather than your entire cycle was delayed due to a later-than-usual ovulation. Go to the doctor for a blood test!"

Lacey replied: "Wait at least 3-5 days after your missed period, and make an appointment as soon as you get a positive result. Doctors usually want to retest before they treat you prenatally."

ronetta replied: "Yes wait until seven days to get a positive result"

1hotblonde replied: "yes because every girl is different when it comes to producing enough of the pregnancy hormone in the blood. you should wait about another week and test again. make sure you use your first morning urine because it is most concentrated. relax and don't stress over it. good luck to you."

REBMA R replied: "You can get false positives for weeks so try another brand of test and you may want to wait a few days before trying again. the only 100 percwnt way to know would be a blood test at this point. Good Luck!!"

Summer G replied: "you might be late because you are stressing. wait another week and take another one. when i got pregnant my hubby and i were trying also. i missed my period so i took 3 test at home. then i was scheduled for my toncils to come out. i took a test at the hospital and it also came out negative. a week after i had my tonsils out i took another test at home and it was positive. the next night i started himerageing from my throat and had it comfirmed by the hospital that i was 6 weeks pregnant. thank god my daughter is ok after all of the surgerys i had. but what i am basically trying to say is that, i could take a really long time to show up."

Clomid/Preg Questions..? Im on my 3rd round of Clomid...first time i was 50mg didnt work...2nd time 100mg Ov and started AF right on CD35..well took round 3 and if i was to have another 35 day cycle then as of right now im about 3 weeks late..ive been having preg symptoms tiredness, sore boobs, nasea(just every now and then),moody, urinating every hour(and ive never been one to pee like crazy, never ever woke up to go in the middle of the night and now all of a sudden i have to). And i took Ov tests from cd 13-22 and got what i thought was a + around cd 19..ive taken a pregnancy test on cd 35 which was neg and i thought it was to soon to tell..so i waited until a couple weeks later and took one this past monday which was also neg (but let me stress i had bought a cheap dollar store one i dont know how effective they are)..i just feel different..and i dont understand how the clomid would work for me that one round then the next time not work at all..if i am pregnant wouldnt i be able to tell by now??

tammybaby67 replied: "I also took 3 rounds of Clomid all at 100mg. With the first 2 rounds I started exactly 28 days. But with the 3rd round I skipped an entire month. I was certain that I was pregnant but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I also took Metformin to regulate my periods and had stopped taking it the 3rd round of Clomid so not sure but that may be the reason I didn't get my period that month. I went back to the doctor a few months ago to discuss trying Clomid again but he didn't want me to go back on it. He seems to think that the Metformin alone will do the trick. Well here's hoping! Maybe you could talk to your doctor about Metformin. Not only does it regulate your periods but also helps you ovulate. I didn't get my period this month while taking Metformin so pregnancy was suspected. Took First Response Early result yesturday (6 days late) and it was negative. So I did a blood test and am now very nervously awaiting the results. Good Luck and I hope that you are pregnant!"

Melissa B replied: "I got pregnant the first time I took Clomid, 50 mg. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage. I took again for 8 months before I conceived my daughter. I started at 50mg and my OB gradually increased it when my bbt charts showed I wasn't ovulating. By the time I conceived, I was up to 200mg. So, I guess it depends on how your body responds to it. I noticed that when I was on Clomid, my cycles were longer than normal. I thought it was because I also take progesterone the second half of my cycle to help sustain my uterus lining. I am ttc again and this is my 3rd round of Clomid. I've been ovulating, so I'm still at 50mg. My OB said that Clomid can thin your lining, so I'm wondering if that's why my cycle was longer when I was ttc before. This time it's been right on schedule. Clomid can enlarge your ovaries so they put pressure on your bladder. However, the tiredness and sore breasts are signs of pregnancy. I have heard of false negatives with hpt's. I would call your OB and get a blood test done. It's better to know for sure. Best of luck to you!"

trying to conceive replied: "clomid might not be for you. you might have to get something else"

clomid!!! help!!? hiya girls i really need some advice! i have been taking 50mg of clomid since january and have had two periods, and my follicles werent really reacting to the clomid, so i left the clinic for a months break to sort my body and head out lol BUT....i havent had a period this month, ive started to get sore breasts and tiredness, frequent urinating, But have had two negitive preg tests. can someone please tell me if they have fallen pregnant on clomid, how long it takes to work!!!! x

jillybird replied: "Took me 2 months the first time and a month the second."

zanizh replied: "My sister in law got pregnant on her second round of clomid. Me? After seven years of nothing, I finally decided to use clomid. I bought it, waiting for my period, and then found out I was already pregnant. Go figure."

josephina replied: "Every womens body is different some get pregnant very fast, and others it takes alittle longer. Don't lose faith and don't stress to much, it's not good for when you are TTC. I just wanted to wish you good luck in getting pregnant!!! :)"

Khloey B replied: "The first time I took Clomid (second pregnancy) I got pregnant with the first round. This time, if I am not pregnant (will know 4/9, but not holding my breath) we will be starting round 4 (50 mg). Not sure about the neg tests. Maybe you just tested to early. Good luck to you!"

dccuttie75 replied: "Hey I just started clomid, finished my 1st round 2 weeks ago and got a positive pregnancy test an hr ago.So the 1st round worked for me.NOW let me say this,I also ovulate on my own,but only have one tube from an ectopic a yr an a half ago.I lost a son at 21 weeks from a car accident last Jan so we knew this one tube was working.I've been trying to have another baby since last April and nothing. My doctor put me on 50mg of clomid and BINGO!I can't be that far along though,May 9DPO.I'm so shocked the test turned positive.'m a compulsive tester anyways!lol All the symtoms you have I also have and cramping off and on.Goodluck"

Jellytaz replied: "It was third time lucky for me,but I ovulated on my own.I was put on clomid because we had unexplained infertility.I recently conceived after almost two years of trying. Maybe you tested too early.Try again and Good Luck"

betty replied: "Hiya, I fell pregnant on Clomid and the pregnancy test was negative but the blood test was positive but sadly I miscarried at 7 1/2 weeks. I fell pregnant again shortly afterwards and Im now 32 weeks pregnant. You need a blood test to check ur HCG levels. Let us know how u get on xx"

does Clomid give you the syptoms of being pregnant? ive taken my first dose of 50mg clomid 3weeks ago starting on day 2 of my cycle! but im experiencing pregnancy symptoms already, very sore and enlarged nipples, sickness and Extreme tiredness! i did do ovulation tests all the way through from day nine to 15 but they said i didn't ovulate! im just wondering could i be pregnancy and ovulated or is it just the side effects of the clomid?! but then i think if i didn't ovulate then the clomid couldn't of worked so what could these symptoms be? would just like to say thanks for the replys i was not aware that clomid delays ovualtion time! i have a blood test tomorrow to check the levels of ovulation, hopefully im already pregnant x x

Haylee S replied: "I experienced extream fatigue on clomid. Also it caused my ovulation to delay for 6 days which I hear is not uncommon. You could have still ovulated after day 15 I didnt ovulate until cd24."

Vicky replied: "I agree with Haylee that you probably didn't do enough OPKs. My RE's office told me that ovulation is normally delayed by Clomid, with an average delay of 4 days (which means that for some women, it's a week or more!)"

Kimi W TTC#1 replied: "I agree with both Haley and Vicky. I ovulated later than I was predicted by my doctor. I was very tired and had very sore boobs. Much like pregnancy symptoms. GL to ya maybe you are pregnant. Clomid can make it confusing."

13 DPO, Symptoms, and a BFN, and clomid (I realize that I'm starting to look desperate)? Hi all I asked this before and got a really sweet answer now I'm just looking for moral support and some hope. This is my first cycle of 100 mg of clomid. I ovulated later than expected, on the 23rd of March after starting my clomid on the 5th. For the past four days I've had some symptoms, emotional, tiredness, slight cramping, super smell, and the occasional upset tummy. I took a test this morning at 13 DPO. When should I expect my period? Is there reason to lose hope? I've had three previous pregnancies. My last achieved with 50mg clomid was the only one where I had a symptoms in the first 8 weeks. Sadly it ended in miscarriage. So I have that added anxiety to getting pregnant. I'm just losing hope that this is my month. Additional Details Honestly, I don't know what my lutal phase is. I have PCOS which make my periods very irregular (as in never). But the clomid makes them very regular only I don't know how long my cycle will be on 100 mg. Oh heck the amount of new babies I see is obscene. My husband is in the Navy and we live in housing. It seems like everyone but me is getting knocked up!

bethany_smith0520 replied: "Don't lose faith it will happen! Sometimes it may take a doctor to figure out what works best for you and your body. Don't be discouraged, you will have a baby eventually! :)"

Ren replied: "I wish that we could just make it happen don't you...I don't know if you are but I hope that we both are! I just finished telling dh that if it didn't happen soon I was going to lose it on someone and he should be careful cause I sleep next to HIM! LOL , I want this waiting each cycle to just end and I want my BFP please!!!! I know how that Desperate feeling feels, I dream about pregnancy I google pregnancy I talk to my bf about pregnancy, I try to focus on other stuff but nope can't happen even if I go out I notice all I see are pregnant women, why is that or all I see is newborn babies...It is so frustrating when I just want the same thing they have, I am sure this is what you want too! SO I am going to wave my invisible wand and sprinke us both with dust blue and pink baby dust!!!!! """""""" I hope it lands on us!!! Good luck!"

Pregnant or Clomid?? This is my first month on clomid...i had my last AF on June 29th, was due my AF again on Sunday 26th July...i am normally a 28 Day giirl!...I took Clomid on days 3-7..no symptoms...actually had forgetten i had taken it until the other night lol....I am now on CD32 and still no sign...i have been getting cramping, sickness, tiredness, moods, crying for no reason!! .... these are not normal PMT signs for me! lol I have done a HPT this morning which came back BFN..can anyone help???

honey replied: "some people take a bit longer for hormones to show up on pregnancy test at home, but Clomid can also make your cycle longer...commonly up to a week longer than normal. Because it boosts your hormones, it could be exaggerating your PMT hence differnt symptoms than usual...... However.....you could still be pregnant. I fell pregnant with twins my first cycle of clomid... wait a week or so.... i knowit's hard......but by then you'll either have had your period arrive, or better hormone levels to register on a HPT. Good luck!"

cc77 replied: "Those can all be Clomid side effects. It can also often make your cycles longer than usual. I'm having the same problems now as I am on CD 36 but with no symptoms whatsoever (which is not normal for me). So yeah, Clomid really screws with your hormones. Give it a few days like the previous answer said. Wait a week, maybe it has caused you to go to 35 day cycle."

Got two Peas in my Pod! replied: "Clomid messed my cycles up they were longer for sure. When I did finally conceive I was on 150 mg and it was my 5th round. Now I am pregnant with twins! Boy/Girl! I did not have any symptoms of pregnancy or of a period. I just took a test 11 days early and it came back positive."

okiegirl replied: "clomid will make your cycle longer. mine went from 30 to 36 days. but you could also be prego so wait a day or so and take another test"

how long does it take for clomid to work? ok i am taking clomid and i have already gone through the first cycle i still have to go take a blood test to see if i am pregnant, my doctor recommended, but i just took a couple pregnancy test at home and it came out neg. so i am pretty much thinking that i am not, also i am not having any kinds of symptom yet, no tenderness on breast, no spotting, no weird cravings, no tiredness,,,nothing. its been 6 days since i ovulated, anyway, my question is what are the chances of clomid working??i have been trying for like 4 years, its kinda frustrating.

AJ replied: "6dpo is a little too soon to be testing...usually women get bfp at 14dpo! Many people don't get results with Clomid on the first cycle...its the 2nd one that works for alot! GOOD LUCK!"

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and my symptoms have gone, am I going to miscarry? Up until week 8 the only symptoms I had were tiredness, sore boobs and slightly peeing more, but a week ago this all stopped. My boobs are only slightly sore now. This is my first pregnancy. I got pregnant by taking clomid and am taking metformin as I have PCOS. The metformin is supposed to reduce the risk of miscarriage. I am worried that I am having a missed miscarriage. My first scan isn't for another 3 weeks. I have been charting my bbt every morning and my temp is still high above the coverline. I took another pregnancy test just now and a very strong positive line appeared within seconds. Would a pregnancy test show up positive if I have had a missed miscarriage and would my temp stay high? I haven't had any spotting. Am I worrying too much? We've been trying for over 2 years so I can't stop constantly worrying! It's all I think about at the moment!

vampini replied: "Panic not your body has been adjusting an now probably settling down, make an appt with your GP or midwife today!!! Good luck!"

tracyw replied: "hi unless you are bleeding dont worry about miscarrying i went thro my whole pregnancy symptomless not a one so its normal....u do howevewr sound like your sressing yourself out and i think you should call your doctor or midwife not only are they there to give advice about things like you've just asked but also to help u mentally as well. you'll be fine good luck xx"

bluebudgie21 replied: "hi! all i can suggest is you relax, call your doctor, and try not to worry.its probably nothing at all wrong BUT you worrying will disrupt your hormones and cause the baby stress.please call the doctor! good luck! x"

ScaryMary replied: "NO. Your symptoms are just settling down. You body is becoming used to the hormones etc. Please do not stress about it. Get to the doctor for some reassurance."

Jasmine replied: "Yes your just worrying too much. You body is just adjusting to the preganacy. I honestly wouldn't worry. I similar thing happened to me and I know have a 8 month old son. I would go see your GP tomorrow to ease your mind before you worry about it anymore. Three weeks is a long time to worry about it especially when everything is probably ok,"

Becky A replied: "First of all...DO NOT WORRY...that puts too much stress on you and the baby. I had the same problem, my morning sickness went away and I felt as though I was not pregnant. It is just the way your body is trying to adjust to the change. Maybe your body is accepting the pregnancy faster than you thought! Good luck"

Janelle C replied: "Try not to worry too much, usually by 12 weeks the risk of miscarriage reduces so at 9 weeks the risk would be even less. I do believe you can buy fetal heart monitors online, maybe you can try ebay. So if your extremely go to your local doctors and ask if they can check the heartbeat for you to put your mind as ease. Symptoms usually change as the further you go along, I had morning sickness until 12 weeks, then it just disappeared, although I never had sore boobs though."

worriedkitten replied: "constantly worrying is bad for you and the baby. Im sorry to say it but if you have a miscarriage your hormone levels could stay elevated for a lil while until its all out of your system, but you should be fine if there isnt any spotting. Honestly tho if you are feeling extremely worried call your doc to see about him checking everything out for you, and if he refuses go to the ER they more than likely will do an ultrasound, although they cant really see anything they should be able to detect the heartbeat. Good Luck Sweetie and God Bless!!"

Poots replied: "Stay poistive but maybe go to the dr or midwife for a check to put your mind at rest. Good luck"

scd replied: "Time to relax!! It doesnt sound like your miscarring. You're just going though a normal pregnancy. Congratulations!!!!"

The chandlers replied: "You are just worrying to much and thats so easy,i had this happen to me with my second child,i suddenly didnt feel pregnant and felt fine. What i did was pay 75 to have a private scan done and baby was fine. You can find a number in your yellow pages or speak to your hospital who will have a number for a private clinic should that be what you decide...."

Shimmy. replied: "congrats and i know its easy for all to say do not stress i stress like mad as i did have a threatened miscarriage but had a scan at 8 weeks and 2 days and all ok but now im scared again as i got my scan tomorrow and sooo hope all is ok.. if u r in serious doubt call ur midwife or doctor for reassurance thats wat they are there for to help answer questions which make u worry. Hope all goes real well for you Shimmy.x"

M S replied: "dont worry sister, this all is natural, week by week some change or other occur till delivery, hence dont; become panic, just discuss with ur hubby/mother or even with your doctor who can guide you , as much patience as you, the growth of the baby will be that much safe. so, once again i suggest you, request you not become panic, or dont build stress. All the best, i wish you a simple and normal delivery with a cute kid to forget all your pains now you are taking."

Jayne R replied: "Glad you posted this question - I'm also 9 weeks gone and wondering what all the fuss is about. I had a slight backache, more peeing than normal and a bit more tired and that's been it and I was wondering if this was normal."

Mum of 2 replied: "I think the best thing to do is to call your gyne and check with him/her about your concern. Your gyne would be able to advise you whether a scan needs to be done. So call your gynae now!! and stop worrying it doesn't help."

wendyad3 replied: "I have heard a lot of people say this and the same thing happened in all 3 of my pregnancies. In the first few weeks you can have a lot of niggles but everything normally settles down mostly as you move into the 2nd trimester. Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy. Try not to worry."

spoofred replied: "try not to worry hon u might just be one of the people who have hardly any symptoms during pregnancy, if u r worrying like this u should have a word with ur doctor and im sure they will put ur mind at rest by feeling and listening to the babys heartbeat good luck xxx"

country bumkin replied: "no way enjoy it babe.forget about bikini/s for a while."

jasmine08 replied: "Try not to worry as long as you aren't having abdominal pain or bleeding I wouldn't worry. but I understand you totally I'm 12wks and my previous pregnancy was a miscarriage or in between doctors apppointments I am so worried about if the baby is ok."

PetLover replied: "Although it is natural to think this way I can assure you that you are worrying too much!! Calm down!! It is perfectly normal for pregnancy symptoms to come and go, Before you know it there will be a different ailment like nausea or itchy skin etc etc. The symptoms you describe were not strong ones anyway (eg vomiting every day) and the only reason you will have really noticed them is because you knew you were pregnant. The real indications of your pregnancy are the tests (all positive) and the scan which you will soon have. If I were you, I would stop all the tests and temperature checking and give yourself a break. Book yourself a docs appointment and explain your fears and they can listen for the baby's heartbeat to reassure you. Congratulations, you are pregnant and you need to start taking it easy! (ps, I also have PCOS and although I wasn't trying, got pregnant by surprise, bled every day until 12 weeks, and the baby is absolutely fine - now 28 weeks. I feel so blessed but have realised that we women with extra complications need to chill out a bit more and let nature take care of it self. OUr bodies are busy enough without us creating extra stress!)"

Brittney M replied: "if youve had multiple miscarriages like me, id go to the er.....they will hook u up w/ an ultrasound to put u at ease.....ive gone twice already becuz of lil things cuz this is my longest pregnancy n im not taking ne chances"

KATIE S replied: "hi there i cant believe it i was in the same situation at 10 weeks, i too have pcos and we tried for over 2 years also, just 4 weeks ago i asked the same sort of question aswell, but as you did not have a lot of symptoms from the beginning i would not worry at all because you have been trying for so long you will worry i still worry now about a missed miscarriege and im 14 weeks tomorow! but you will be fine the p test would have came up lighter if you were miscarrying, just wait for your 12 week scan it will be great and you will see your little baby jumping and moving all about and his/her heartbeat beating away it s the best feeling ever! i remember thinking at my 12 week scan what the hell was i worrying about? so just dont worry ok and enjoy your pregnancy, take care and keep me posted"

piggy replied: "i was told a positive is a positive, and if i did miscarry it would be a neg.please dont worry as at 9 weeks symptoms start to fade then you feel great!..then you feel like shite again!.have you been booked in yet?..if so ring your midwife and ask her oppinion because on here you always get conflicting advice."

cala s replied: "1st stop worrying ((((hug)))) 2nd i had a mc 4 yrs ago 3rd i have pcos too 4th im 18 weeks preg my symtoms came and went all the time worrying will make you worse i was same still am lol but babe i sear the baby be fine xxxx"

sasha replied: "hello well on April 19th i had a missed miscarriage. the baby measured 10 weeks not 12 like i thought i would be. had to have a D&C april 24th. i noticed my sympotoms starting to slow down but i was still getting a positive test and high temp. the only thing that really "stopped" was my chest didnt hurt anymore. i had all the other symptoms. with a missed miscarriage you cant really "know" some women go through their entire pregnancy with no symptoms at all. just relaxe and try to enjoy being pregnant :) if you get to upset call your Dr and try to get in early. i wish you the best and remember breath"

Iam trying for my 2nd baby. i had taken clomid 50 tablet this month. On the 12day Ultrasound image shown? the dominant follicle measuring the size 25 x 19. i dono't know whether ruptured or not but after that i got the symptoms like breast sore, tiredness, hungry. I got egg white discharge for a few days. on 17th mar from morning to evening i got light brown discharge, heavy in the night next day. 18th morning nothing, heavy in the night, 19th from morning to evening heavy, in the night it was totally stopped. My due date is 20th mar. I had regular period in every month. what's happening to my body. Am I pregnant or not. Can anyone help me?

jojoh replied: "hi it is obviously old blood as it is brown. it says that you can have some bleeding or discharge with clomid. if your period is due today, 20th march, it could be the beginning of your period, or it could be implantation bleeding. it is hard to tell, you can take a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant. i think if you buy an early detection test, it could show up that you are pregnant. if your period doesnt come and its negative, wait a week and retest. goodluck"

Angel replied: "Depending on the days you take clomid, will change your cycle. I am on day 3-7 and I got my period on day 32, only for 2 days..first day I spotted then I go a period light for 2 days, then I started my clomid, and nothing after. I called my Dr office they said it was normal. I would call your Dr office and ask it that is normal. they might just schedule you for a blood preggo test. Good luck, I hope this helps, positive thoughts"

TTC and now 13 dpo when should test be positive? i have PCOS and have always been very irregular. i took clomid from may 13-17 and i am pretty sure i ovulated on may 25-26, since about june 1st i have been feeling all of the usual symptoms, naseua, tender breasts, tiredness and i feel exactly how i did with my first pregnancy. i took a test today 13 dpo and it was negative but i really feel pregnant. i was wondering how many dpo you got a positive test and if you got a negative first?

tired lady replied: "I only know for two (out of 4) of my pregnancies. One I got bfn until 14dpo (the day AF was due) but then lost it the next day and with this pregnancy (straight after the chemical preg) was at 9 dpo but VERY faint. Was BFN up until then and by 10 dpo I could tell there was an actual line and I wasnt imagining it. I felt pregnant too : ) Good luck!!"

Vicky replied: "Many women don't get a BFP for a few days after AF is late; that is, after 14dpo. Best of luck!"

momofthree replied: "i am in the same boat as you i tested today with a digital and it said not pregnant.. i feel very much pregnant soar brests consipation dark nipples i am going to test again tommorow. i went to the doctor on thursday and she said my uterus looks favorable for a pregnancy nice and thick and my corpus luteam looked great but it was to soon to tell."
